Hullo Atuldom
Wishing our in-house Encyclopedia, whom I love to address as GURUJI, otherwise called Shri. Arunkumar Deshmukh a very Happy BirthdayEmojiEmoji. May he continue to enlighten us with his painstakingly researched knowledge about all things connected with Indian Films as a WHOLE. He loves South Indian films as well as Made-In-South films possibly because of having been in Hyderabad in his formative years.
May his zeal to write posts never dim. Posts, that have a definite content, form and buildup leading to the featured film, artists and songs contained in the film. Posts that are not necessarily about the golden oldies or the middle generation films. I like what he says, “it is not necessary that only old songs are melodious, there are good songs in the later decades too”.

Today’s song is from a Costume C grade film -‘Shah Behram’-1955.
The film was made by Producer Mulkraj Bhakari, under the banner of Baharistan Productions, Bombay. The film was directed by a veteran of such genres – Nanubhai Vakil. He was not just a ” Vakil” (An Advocate) by name, but including him, most of the elders of his family were B.A.LL.B. advocates. It is another matter that he was inclined to make a name for himself in the film industry rather than practising Law in courts.

teri aawaaz se rahe bekhabar
hamare dil ki kab ye mazaal hai
Due apologies to Majrooh saab for tweaking his well-known ghazal from Aakhri Daao (1958)
Remembering and celebrating Mohammed Rafi saab on his birth centenary (24 December 1924-31 July 1980).
It is just 44 years since Rafi saab passed away in 1980, but ever since he graced our HFM with his matchless voice, it is as if the voice always existed and will remain us forever.

#Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Qawwalis – Part-2 – Post-10)

Title of this post suggests that the song with this post is a ‘Qawwali’ song. It is not a popular or block-buster qawwali, but a lesser known and lesser heard song which you can sometimes get to listen to on Vividh Bharati (AIR). This song is from the ‘1978’ movie ‘Daada’. It was mentioned by me earlier while presenting another song from this movie that I have vague memories of watching this movie with my parents and younger brothers. I didn’t remember this movie much except for a few of its songs.
