Another wonderful song pulled out from memory, and another as yet unknown film (to me) discovered. Awaara Abdullah is a film released in 1963 by Henna Films, Bombay. The direction is by Tara Harish, a name that is unfamiliar. It sounds like a joint name of two people, but I could be wrong.

Most music directors of B grade movies tend to remain confined to B grade music throughout their careers. But the music director duo of Laxmikant Pyarelal were no ordinary music director duo. They began their career as independent music directors with B grade movies/ small budget movies, but they created such stunning music in these movies that they quickly joined the ranks of the most sought after music directors in the Hindi movie music industry.

“Qaidi” (1957) is an Eagle Films production. It was directed by Mohammed Hussain and the star cast included names like Padmini, Suresh, Agha, Anwar, Kumar, Kamal, Helen, Johnny Walker, Ragini etc.

This by now forgotten movie has songs that have also become forgotten with time. But the songs are nice to listen to.

There are two films by the name ‘Inspector’, in the list of Hindi films. The first one was released in 1956, and the second one in 1970. There are three songs already posted for the film from 1956. Here is the first song for the 1970 film.

In case of most movies, only a few songs become popular and other songs become forgotten with time. I have found that several of these forgotten songs are superb songs to listen to, and with some luck, they should have become popular songs, instead of ending up into the dustbin of obscurity.

When I was first exposed to Hindi movies as a young kid in 1960s, I noticed that the hero and heroine seemed to be the most miserable characters in the movie who looked sad and unhappy, and suffered at the hands of the villain (and/ or the society ) throughout the movie.
