“Night in London” was a “me too” movie made to cash on the craze for “An evening in Paris”. This movie, which had music by Laxmikant Pyarelal and lyrics by Anand Bakshi ( as against Shankar Jaikishan as music director and Hasrat Jaipuri as lyricist in “An Evening in Paris”), came up with music of comparable standard.

This song pits Vyjyantimala, a professionally trained classical dancer ( arguably the best ever female classical dancer in Bollywood history- notwithstanding Padmini, Hema Malini,Jayaprada, Meenakshi Sheshadri etc) with Helen, the best known cabaret dancer in Bollywood movies. The movie is called “Jaali Note” viz “couterfeit note”. The movie had Dev Anand and Madhubala in lead roles.

Helen was beginning to make her presence felt in those days in the sense that she was beginning to get a song every movie. This trend of one Helen song per movie would last for nearly two decades.
