‘Monihar’ (‘Jeweled Neckless’, 1966, Bangla film) was directed by Salil Sen. The main cast included Soumitra Chatterjee, Biswajeet, Sandhya Roy, Kamal Mitra, Pahadi Sanyal, Chhaya Devi etc. The film is available on a video sharing site with English sub-titles. The film belongs to the genre of the musical family drama and is about two brothers who share a cordial relationship yet there are misunderstandings regarding the financial matters as well as their likings for the same girl. Yet there is no villainous attitude towards each other. And this is the highlight of the film. ‘Aalor Pipasa’ (Thirst for Light) was a Bangla film released in January 1965. The film was directed by Tarun Majumdar. The film is available on-line with English sub-titles. The story of the film is about a courtesan (Sandhya Roy) who sacrifices her life for the betterment of her son. The entire story is depicted in the film by way of flash back when a senior doctor (Pahadi Sanyal) tells the story of the courtesan to his junior doctor (Asit Baran). The junior doctor happens to be the courtesan’s son.

Hullo to all atulites
In the euphoria to celebrate the blogs 10th anniversary with an appropriate post last week I missed out on a few anniversaries, occasions for which I always try and send a special song. I just realised that 18th July is the anniversary of another favourite. So here is a song for the occasion.
But I think, we can have a song featuring one in a movie in which the other is the main lead. The two actors I was thinking of combining are Rajesh Khanna and Sanjeev Kumar.
