Nainon se naina milaa ke – Song no. 14

The summer vacation have started for school going children. With upcoming long weekends and only three working days in between, this might have been a good opportunity to go on a vacation somewhere cool calm and quite. For those who are able to plan well in advance and have been good all year round to be able to take time off work, anyway. And for some of us who are not able to plan in advance, it is the same heat and dust of Mumbai. Of course there are a few hill stations close by where one may just decide to pay a visit, on a spur of the moment. But at this time of the year those places like Lonavla , Mahableshwar and Matheran etc are teeming with holiday makers. There is no calm and quite to be had at these popular spots. Lately these spots have turned into the places where no season is off season, the proximity to Mumbai is the reason.

I have noticed that some of the regulars on the blog have shortened the name of ‘atulsongaday’ as ‘ASAD’. They might be interested to know that ‘Asad’ in urdu and Arabic means ‘Lion’. Now there is one famous personality named such, we are familiar with i.e. “Asadullah Khan Ghalib”. And ‘Lions’ by nature are hunters and like to roar. Mirza Ghalib was a different story, as even if he roared, it turned into sheer poetry. Where as we at ‘atulsongaday’ are more comfortable ‘cooing’ as a ‘Dove’. At least I prefer to thinks so.

Badalte Huye Saathi (Episode 11…LAST SONG)(Lata sings with Chitalkar)

Finally, we have reached the end of this series having just 11 songs. For a theme like BADALTE HUYE SAATHI,11 songs is too less, I know. This subject is so vast that,at best,it can only be represented here, and it is not possible to do full justice to the topic, I agree. When I started this series,I had said that it is not possible to cover all the Major singers or cover the entire period of 1931 to 1960. However, the temptation to write on this topic was so intense that I decided to do it in 10 to 12 episodes, somehow. Utter ” Na- Insaafi “, I am aware of it !

Badalte Huye Saathi (Episode 10th)(Mukesh sings with Lata Mangeshkar)
———————————————————————

I am of the firm opinion that sad songs are best sung by 1) Mukesh 2) Talat and 3) Hemant Kumar. Though I like Mohd. Rafi very much, he is not among the first 3 names for sad songs in my list. The pathos one finds in the voice of Mukesh in unmatched !
