Today (15 august 2017) is the 71st Independence day of India.
This is the tenth independence day for the blog. In addition, we have also had nine republic days. We have discussed a few patriotic songs on all these 17 national days. So one can imagine the number of patriotic songs that we have covered in the blog so far. The count of patriotic songs in the blog shows 106 songs as of now !

Today’s song is a fun song from the film Khota Paisa (1958). It is sung by Rafi, Shamshad and chorus. The film was one of those in which Johnny Walker was the Hero opposite Shyama. Johnny Walker was on the peak of popularity during that period. The film was produced and directed by M.Sadiq, under his own banner Sadiq Productions, Bombay. Music was by Madan Mohan.

Today (14 july 2017) is the birth anniversary of Roshan (14 july 1917-16 november 1967 )and remembrance day of Madan Mohan (25 june 1924 -14 july 1975). So we remember two important music directors of the golden era on this day.

In Hindi movies, lip syncing of songs is mainly the preserve of the lead actors. Sometimes we find character actors too getting to lip sync a song or two. viz suffering maa is seen singing bhajans or remonstrating with the Almighty. 🙂

‘Nirmohi’, from 1952 is a film produced by Shriram Sharma, and directed by Baij Sharma for the banner of Sheetal Movies, Bombay. The cast of actors in this social drama includes Nutan, Sajjan, Raj Mehra, Leela Misra, Chaman Puri, Neeru, Amarnath, CL Kavish, Neeru, Kanchan etc. amongst others. The eight songs in this film are shared between Uddhav Kumar, Indeevar and PN Rangeen, as far as song writing is concerned. Music is by Madan Mohan. This particular song is from the pen of Indeevar. The singing voices are those of Kavita and Lalit Mohan.

As soon as he discovers that I have uploaded a new post, Arvinder ji (I should say, Dear Arvinder ji) is immediately on my case – “where are the songs that I have requested”. And so it transpires this time also. As soon as he became aware of my previous post (of Tuesday early morning), I have been getting calls and messages of all types reminding me of his list of requests for songs that are very dear, but are not easily available at this time. We had a small get together of our group yesterday afternoon. Arvinder ji was also present. And I don’t need to add much more to say how he urged me to post the songs he has requested.
