I was very surprised to see this song being given as a farmaaish because I thought that this song was discussed long back. On checking, I found that I was wrong of course. Perhaps I may have planned to discuss this song but I did not.

Here is an A grade song from a B grade movie. The movie is called “Do Gunde” (1959) and it had Ajit and Jayshree Gadkar in lead roles.

“Sagina” (1974) was one of those few movies where Dilip Kumar and Saira Bano acted opposite each other. This movie, which was a remake of a Bangla movie called “Sagina Mahto” had some nice songs in it.

In the olden and golden days of Hindi movies,great music was created not only in mainstream A grade movies, but also in lower budget B grade movies. There was a glut of talented music directors and even low budget movie producers were in a position to hire high class music directors.

“Opera House” (1961) was a B grade movie starring Ajit, B Saroja Devi, K N Singh, Maruti, Niranjan Sharma,Baalam etc. Many of the so called B grade movies of those days are indistinguishable from A grade stuff, except for low budget. And as far as the music of these movies were concerned. The music was invariably A grade.
