Up until about a year ago, I knew just one song of the movie “Ustadon Ke Ustad” (1963). This was the famous Rafi saab song “sau baar janam lenge”.

“Angulimaal” (1960) was a story of Angulimaal, a bandit who turned saint, a historical/mythological character who lived during the times of Lord Buddha.This movie had Bharat Bhushan,Nimmi and Anita Guha in it.

“Reshmi Roomaal” (1961) is a B grade movie starring Manoj Kumar (then a newcomer) opposite Shakila (then over the hill). This movie and its songs are quite obscure as of now.

Though I have heard this song from “Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai” (1960) several times, I never gave it any serious thought. But now, when I tried to find more details about the song, I found that this song has to be a very special song indeed.

Babu bol kaisaa rokaa

“Pyaase Panchhi” (1960) is a rather B grade movie where Mehmood was the hero opposite Ameeta. Going by the fact that Mehmood subsequently made his mark not as a hero but as a comedian, it appears to me that this movie may not have done well at the box office.

Though I am aware of most songs from “Mother India” (1957), I was just not aware about this song from the movie. In fact, I was not aware that Manna Dey had sung a song in this movie.

The lyrics of this song is provided by Atif M, a new visitor of this blog and a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie songs
Prima facie, this duet song has similar initial words as the “Dilli Ka Thug” (1958) song (ye raaten ye mausam nadi ka kinaara ), but the two songs are entirely different songs even though they share the same lyricist, music director and the female singer.
