It is a tradition or convention in most of the schools that just before the start of the classes in the morning, students collectively sing a prayer. During my early school days – probably in 1952 or 1953, I remember, we used to sing a prayer ‘pitu maatu sahaayak swami sakhaa tum hi ek naath hamaare ho’. In the absence of public address system, the prayer used to be sung by 4-5 students from our class who had aptitude in singing and others in the class would sing with them in tandem.

“Gunjan” (1948), by now an obscure movie, was a Nalini Production movie. It was directed by V Desai. The movie had Trilok Kapoor, Nalini Jaiwant, David Abraham, Pande, Balraj Sahni, Veena Kumari, Purnima, Narmada Shanker etc in it.

Sometimes we meet someone, and are so impressed by the personality and the interaction, that we remember that person lifelong. And sometimes fortune plays such games, that we meet someone we think is so wonderfully special, but then life never does bring the same person near us again. Maybe decades will pass, and we occasionally will think of that person, and remember the feeling of goodness we had. But sometimes life is kind, and allows us to meet some such person whom we met long, long ago, and always remembered with fondness.
