Today 6th Feb 2020 is one hundred and fifth birth anniversary of Ramchandra Narayan Dwivedi (06.02.1915-11.12.1998), popularly known to all of as ‘Kavi Pradeep’.
Kavi Pradeep was a great poet and lyricist admired by the whole film industry in India. And as a singer too. Though he has sung very few songs, he has left an indelible mark in the history of Indian movies.
He has penned over five hundred songs as a lyricist and as per statistics on the blog so far 181 out of 531 of his lyrics have been posted on the blog. So, one can understand we still have a long way to go to bring all his lyrics here on the blog. (I think finding all the songs (audio/video) may be difficult now).

Hullo Atuldom
Listening to music is a pastime. And if it is film songs – all the more good. Plus if it is HFM I couldn’t ask for more- anyone who knows me knows this. Fellow atulites included. Followers of the blog also are aware that “vividh bharati” the radio station, is my reminder diary.
So soon as I heard the program remembering Parveen Babi – of the lustrous hair- I looked for hitherto unposted songs and found many possibilities.

Yesterday (25 december 2019) was the birth centenary of Naushad (25 december 1919- 5 May 2006). The special occasion called for a post but my internet connection let me down and that day ended up becoming a dot day- the third such day in the year.
According to my calculations Naushad had composed music for 601 songs in 64 Hindi movies.

Mohammed Rafi : The Incomparable (II) – Song No. 14
———————————————————
Remembering Mohammed Rafi Sahab on his 95th birth anniversary :
Someone once told me that to become cynical you first had to be an idealist and it was the loss of those ideals that created the disillusionment. But than what is an idealist if not an individual with independent thinking and with the added ability to incorporate diverse ideas. And cynicism is bound to be an integral part of any ideological theory if it seeks to negate the perceived or real concepts of injustice against humanity. Critical analysis of any ideological concepts will possibly make the ideologist a cynic if the said ideology is not perfect enough or as perfect as the ideologist wanted it to be. Cynical person is often very critical of things and situations and their repercussions. While as an idealist, will find a lot to express about the idea rather than focusing on criticism of anything else. That makes cynicism the anti-thesis of idealism. On the other hand, idealism if it seeks to unilaterally implement a social order in a given society is regressive to its intellectual and overall progress as a civilization, since it seeks no introspection and encourages narrow thoughts. Whereas a cynic will look at all things surrounding it and might even be able to look beyond it.

Remembering Mohammed Rafi Sahab on his 95th birth anniversary :
Hullo Atuldom
Today’s post is for a song from the 1981 release “Zamaane ko Dikhaana Hai” which was produced and directed by Nasir Hussain. It marked the debut of Padmini Kolhapure as an adult; prior to this she had acted as a child star in numerous movies. The music department was handled by Majrooh Sultanpuri and R D Burman. The songs were play-backed by Asha Bhonsle, Shailendra Singh, Mohd. Rafi and Pancham. Nasir Hussain took a few scenes from his “Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hain” – song on train top; runaway girl from “Caravan” and a song & dance competition inspired from “Hum Kisise Kum Nahin”. Additionally, there are multiple songs in a scene as in “Yaadon Ki Baraat” and “Hum Kisise Kum Nahin”.
