Here is a wonderful romantic duet from the past which is easily one of the timeless classics from the golden era of Hindi movie music. Listening to this song magically transports us back to the era half a century ago, when melody was king, lyrics were given their due and songs were created like monuments , not like disposal cans.

“Khoj” (1953) is as obscure a movie as any. This movie apparently had Shammi Kapoor, Mahipal, Kesari, Lalita Kumari, satish etc in it. Out of these actors, Shammi Kapoor and Mahipal went on to become well known actors in future, but even they were largely non entities in 1953 when this movie was released. It is unlikely that this movie helped them advance further in their career, seeing that this movie itself failed to survive at the box office.

I have not seen “Wo Kaun Thhi” (1964) but I know that Manoj Kumar and Sadhana were the lead actors in this movie. Knowing Hindi movies, the lead duo in Hindi movies must fall in love and sing romantic duets. I have posted as many as five songs from this movie and I just realised that none of these songs were romantic duets picturised on the lead pair. There were songs picturised on them, but those songs were solo songs sung by Lata (and lip synced by Sadhana). In other words, Manoj Kumar did not get to lip sync in the songs picturised on Manoj Kumar and Sadhana.
