22nd July is the 95th birth anniversary of Mukesh Chand Mathur better known the world over as Mukesh; the man who was the voice of Raj Kapoor (mostly), Dilip Kumar, Feroz Khan, Manoj Kumar, Sunil Dutt etc.

Hullo Atuldom
The song with this post was liked by my mother at the time when it was a regular on the radio waves. Specially the lines about aate mein mitti, chaawal mein kankar behisaab hai. I suppose those were the times when people had to rely on groceries from ration-shops (kids of the new millennium will not know what the fuss is all about). I remember people used to stand in queues to buy common things like soaps, oils, and other essentials. Aah! Those were different times and a different way of living.

On this blog, one thing we enjoy is, celebrations. 🙂
We are always looking for an opportunity to celebrate – and every other day, we get a reason to do so. Often it is somebody’s birthday or birth anniversary, or a milestone of a 100th or 1000th song for an artiste, or for the blog. And even if it is a death anniversary, which is not really a cause for celebration, we use the occasion to pay tribute to the concerned artiste. Many of my own posts fall in this category.
