Finally, the year ‘2021’ has become a past now and with that the ‘year 1971’ has become fifty years old too. That is how time flies.
We had been celebrating ‘fifty years’ of the year ‘1971’ and have looked on the movies released in 1971 in earlier posts given below.
- Man ke korey kaaghaz pe tasveer kheench lo Ram ki
- Mujhe neend aa gayi thhi
- Ye meri balaa jaane kitne hain yahaan gham
In the above posts we have seen the details of movies released from January-April’1971, then May-August’1971 and finally the details of movies released from September-December’1971 respectively in these three posts.

Hullo to all in Atuldom
I don’t know if anyone has noticed the current obsession that I am displaying. Many of my contributions to the blog in this calendar year have been to celebrate the birthdays of artists who are otherwise called “character artist” or “supporting cast”.
Has anyone tried to visualise what story “The Ramayana” would have been if there was no Dasharatha, Kaikeyi, Sugriva, Hanuman, Vibhishana or even Ravan. Can one think of “The Mahabharat” minus Duryodhana, Shakuni, Kunti, or any of the “supporting characters”? Where would “Sholay” be without Gabbar, or the fate of “Mr. India” without Mogambo. Can one think of “Parichay” minus the cute kids of the family, “Chupke Chupke” without Jijaji, “Golmaal” without Bhavani Shankar; “Deewar” minus THE MAA. That means all stories, be they the epics or modern tales, need characters which are good, bad, ugly or in-between, around the main characters for the story to be interesting.

Hullo Atuldom
‘Aangan Ki Kali’ was a movie directed by Harsh Kohli. One song from this movie has been posted earlier – “Sainyya Bina Ghar Soona” . Prakashchandra ji has given the story of the movie in the comments to that post. After reading it I feel nice that I missed seeing the movie when it released but I have a feeling that I might have seen it on Doordarshan at some point of time. But as Atulji has said in that post, the songs of that movie are still there in my memory.

Saawan aayaa baadal aaye

Most of the song farmaishes that I get are in the blog, but sometimes I also get farmaishes for songs in my email inbox. Yesterday I received an e mail from Jeetendra Mistry, who requested me to discuss a song called ” Saawan aayaa baadal aaya ” from “Jaan Haazir Hai” (1975). He mentioned that this song, which is picturised on Urmila Bhatt, is a rare song which he is unable to find.

It is practically impossible to talk of actors or hit films of Bollywood of the early 70s and not speak of Rajesh Khanna in the same breath. He was synonymous with Bollywood hit movies at that time and though other heroes did manage a few hits between them, he was THE towering figure amongst them all at that time.
