I know that a song sung by two singers ( typically one male and one female singer) is called a duet or “dogaana”, but what about a song sung by three singers ? Anyone has any idea ? Is it called a “tigaana” or a “triet” ?

Aankhon se jo utri hai dil mein

O P Nayyar had taken the Bollywood music world by storm in 1950s.He dominated the Bollywood music scene in the late 1950s the way R D Burman would later dominate in 1970s. If Kishore Kumar was the singer who helped the domination of R D Burman in 1970s, then it was Asha Bhonsle who played a similar role in O P Nayyar’s dominance.

I as a kid grew up reading “Chandamama”, a children’s magazine that was published from Madras in many Indian languages. They had interesting stories from eclectic sources viz mythology, arabian tales, folk tales, etc. They also used to have stories preaching the values of peaceful co existence among joint family members. In other words, they preached just the opposite of what is preached in Ekta Kapoor’s serials now a days.

Chitragupta was a music director who was always on the fringes of mainstream movies. Most of the time he would give music for C grade movies viz mythological movies, stunt movies etc, and such movies alongwith their music failed to make much impression with mainstream Bollywood audience.

Koi nahin hai mera

“Samjhauta”(1973) was a movie that went unnoticed. Many people may not even have heard of this movie or its songs. Personally I heard its title song viz “samjhauta ghamon se kar lo”, but I have not been able to locate its video.

It is a song that I informally call “mental massage” song. This kind of songs makes me forget the tensions of the world and make for a refreshing change. In brief, this does the same for the mind as a nice massage does for the body.

This song was one of the earliest songs that left an indelible mark in my tender mind. I could identify the voice of Rafi even those days, but the concept of lyricists and music directors was not yet known to me at that time.
