For some reason, I was unable to locate the video of this song. Now finally, my search for this song is over and I could locate the video. So here is a long pending farmaish of Raja finally being posted.
The song is a timepass chaaloo kind of song. This song has no pretentions of being anything more than a light hearted song. There are two heroes (Amitabh and Vinod Khanna) so there must be two heroines (Neetu Singh and Shabana Azmi). The two ladies are petty thieves and they “threaten” to end their lives on being spurned by the heroes, but the heroes call their bluff every time.
The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle, Aarti Mukherjee, Shailendra Singh and Amit Kumar.
It is a mainstream Bollywood movies and most actors had grown up doing this kind of roles. Shabana Azmi was the only misfit. Such roles were not her cup of tea. She looks ill at ease whereas Neetu Singh takes to this kind of roles like a duck takes to water.
Personally, I feel that the picturisation of this song suffers mainly because of the presence of Shabana Azmi. They should have signed up Parveen Babi or Zeenat Aman instead and should have left Shabana Azmi to do her serious roles.

Aarti Mukerji came to the scene in a competition where Mahendra Kapoor was the male winner in 1959. The judge C Ramchandra promised MK a few songs and MK also sang songs with Naushad in Sohni Mahiwal. AM however, got one song in Boy Friend in 1960 which was picturized on none other than Madhubala, “Aai ga aai ga” but had to wait 14 years to sing another song for Shankar Jaikishan in Neelima in 1975. She got a good number of songs around 1975 with Geet Gaata Chal and Tapasya. But Ravindra Jain preferred Hemlata after that for Chitchor, etc.

Aarthi mukherjee got filmfare award for her rendition of “Do nainaaa aur ek kahaani thodasa baadal thoda sa paani aur ek kahaani”from MASOOM(1983)(picturised on shabana azmi and child artistes urmila mathondkar)
Another song I remember from DO DIL(music must be by Hemant kumar)picturised on Rajshree and biswajeet-“sara mora kajra chudaaya tumne kaahe ko garwaa lagaaya tune, o rasiya,)sung by rafi and aarthi mukherjee(kaifi azmi)

“Do dil” music is by Hemant Kumar. “Tera Husn rahe mera ishq rahe” is a Rafi solo from the same film. I was surprised to find that its MD is Hemant Kumar. Is this the only film, where Hemant Kumar has used Rafi ?

Thanks for finally posting this, Atul.
Indeed Shabana does not somehow fit this image of slapstick heroine but the song itself is total timepass.
The lyrics are hilarious and creative, the picturisation is wonderful.
I love this song – it is one of my favourite “timepass” songs.
