I have posted a song from “Bahaar” (1951) in the past. That song was the well known song “Sainyaa dil mein aana re” which was sung by Shamshad Begam and picturised on Vyjyanti Mala.

I thought that I had posted this song already. Then I realised that I had not posted this song. Though I had got the lyrics of this song ready a while back, I do not know why I had not yet posted it.

It is quite common for me to remark that many of the songs being posted are songs that I came across only recently. And I also find myself remarking frequently that I found these songs to be gem stuff, even though the movies as well as the songs contained in these movies failed to get popular.

“Badaltey Rishtey” (1978) was released to a lukewarm response and the movie did not do well at the box office. Of course there is no correlation between a movie’s box office performance and its production values. The story of this movie was different from the usual “dhishum dhishum” stuff of those days. Here is a bicycle song from an obscure movie called “Zamaana” (1957). The song is picturised on Ameeta and Kamaljit (later better remembered as Waheeda Rehman’s husband). This song is a duet, mostly sung by Asha Bhonsle, with some male voice too. I have no idea about the male voice. It sounds like G M Durrani, but then he was no longer around in 1957 I think. The singer could well be Kamaljit himself. (PS- I have later read somewhere that it was Kamaljit himself).

As obscure movies go, “Police Detective” (1960) must be among the most obscure. This movie had Sujit Kumar, Shyama,Jayshree Gadkar and Anwar Hussain in lead roles. It was a B grade movie.
