When one speaks of a movie called “Parichay”, one means “Parichay” (1972) starring Jeetendra and Jaya Bhaduri. But there was another movie of the same name in 1954. This forgotten movie had actors like Abhi Bhattacharya, Pranoti Ghosh, Shashikala etc in this movie.

Kishore Kumar is mostly known for singing happy songs. But he has sung sad songs as well , and they are more in number than we tend to believe. And out of all these songs that he has sung, there are some gems that are less known than they should be. For instance, I have posted his sad songs from “Nishaan” (Lahron ki tarah yaadein ) and “Begaana”(Matlabi hain log yahan par ) in this blog which are absolute gems.

“Biraadari” (1966) was a llow budget B grade movie with a casr consisting mainly of unknown actors. Little wonder then that the movie did not do anything spectacular at the box office.

I have posted as many as four songs from “Maayaa” (1961) and all these songs are timeless classics. Now it has been pointed out to me that there are more memorable songs in it. So based on the list of songs provided by Sid in the farmaish page, I am now geared up to post the remaining songs from this movie.

When you are young, you only like to listen to “modern” songs and hate listening to old songs calling them boring. Here is a song that was old even by my standards of 1970s when I was growing up. But show me a song that could be more modern than this by now 51 year old song.

“Sahaara” (1958) was one of the first (if not the first) movie where Meena Kumari took her first steps toward tragedy roles. In this movie, she plays a blind woman, though her character appears quite positive in this movie, based on the picturisation of songs on her in this movie.

I have mentioned it many times that Chitragupta, despite his outstanding musical talent would not go out and socialise with big wigs of the industry and that is what prevented him from landing big banner movies. For instance, the first time he was introduced to raj Kapoor was in late 1980s by his sons Anand and Milind, and on meeting him, Raj Kapoor said that he was a big fan of Chitragupta and he would have loved to work with Chitragupta had he met him in their heydays.
