“Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh” (1960) is a movie about which I have become aware just a few days ago. I have no idea how this movie fared at the box office, but I am just amazed at the songs of this movie. Getting a break in Bollywood is a Herculean task. And even after getting a break, making your mark and having a successful career is not assured. In fact, even when you make your mark, there is no guarantee that you would continue to get breaks in Bollywood.

“Teasing” songs, where the hero is seen teasing the lady have been there from 1950s. And I mostly find them unrealistic. In real life, one cannot tease a girl like that in India and get away. But in Bollywood songs, the lady, after initial disapproval, begins to respond towards the later parts of the song. I find it difficult to identify with such picturisation.
