Chalo kahin aur chalte hain

When one talks of a movie called “Naya Daur”, one thinks of the B R Chopra movie of 1957 which had Dilip Kumar and Vyjyanti Mala in lead roles and which had lilting music by O P Nayyar.
It turns out that a movie of the same name was released two decades later as well. This movie, namely “Naya Daur”(1978) was a United Movie Arts production. It was produced by Sudesh Gupta and directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The movie had Rishi Kapoor, Bhavana Bhatt, Danny Denzongpa, Farida Jalal, Dr.Shree Ram Lagoo, Madan Puri, Om Prakash, Purnima, Paintal, Ranjeet, Major Anand, Leena Das, Sadiq Irani, Pinchoo Kapoor, Shashi Kiran, Shivraj, Raj tilak, Sharat Saxena, D.K.Sapru, Ghanshyam Rohera etc in it.
Today (20 september) is the birthday of Mahesh Bhatt, the director of this movie. On this occasion, here is a rare song from this by now obscure movie. This song is a duet which is sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle. It is picturised on Rishi Kapoor and Bhavna Bhatt, who find their romance obstructed by their insensitive peeping tom acquaintances throughout this song.
Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by R D Burman.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Lyrics (Provided by Prakashchandra)
chalo kahin aur chalte hain
chalo kahin aur chalte hain
chalo kahin aur chalte hain
sunte hain yahaan chhupke baatein
log jalte hain
chalo kahin aur chalte hain
chalo kahin aur chalte hain
sunte hain yahaan chhupke baatein
log jalte hain
chalo kahin aur chalte hain
haan ye jagah khoob hai
lekin kitni dhoop hai
ped ke neeche baithenge
haaan nahin
deewaar ke peechche baiten
deewaaron ke bhi kaan hote hain
ohhooo
aap yun hi bud-ghumaan hote hain
lo ye toffee
khaaoge?
kab tak yoon tarsaaoge
kyaa dil beqaraar hai
mushkil intezaar hai
meraa bhi ye haal hai
shaadi mein ek saal hai
saal mein kithne din hain
jithne hain tere bin hain
yehi baatein sochke toh
din raat dhalte hain
chalo kahin aur chalte hain
chalo kahin aur chalte hain
sunte hain yahaan chhupke baatein
log jalte hain
chalo kahin aur chalte hain
aisse tum kyun kho gaye
hum deewaane ho gaye
haan
ye deewaanaapan chhodo
dekho ye dil na todo
din raat teri yaad aathi hai
neend yahaan kisse aati hai
rut kaa kyaa ishaaraa hai
mausam badaa pyaaraa hai
phir kab milne aaoge
jab bhi tum bulaaoge
kal kaa vaadaa kar jaao
achchaa ab tum ghar jaao
itnaa waqt hi apnaa thaa
kitnaa sundar sapnaa thaa
sapne kabhi kabhi
jhoothe nikalte hain
chalo kahin aur chalte hain
chalo kahin aur chalte hain
sunte hain yahaan chhupke baatein
log jalthe hain
chalo kahin aur chalte hain
chalo kahin aur chalte hain
chalo kahin aur
chalte hain

I watched this movie recently and liked the story and Mahesh bhatt`s directon. Some scenes of this movie were deftly directed and leaves impression on viewers. Especially Omprakash,Rishi(eventhough the choclatee looks give away sometimes)Farida Jalal act very well. Ranjeet creates terror with his strange evil mannerisms and outfits.
The movie revolves around a middle class family consisting Om prakash, his son Rishi kapoor and his wife Purnima. Rishi loves richie rich Madan Puri`s daughter Bhavna Bhatt. There starts clash between poverty and material wealth.
Om prakash(the man with noble principles) after his retirement fails to sustain his family expenses and shifts his residence to a chawl like house, where Rishi gets influenced by gangster Danny Denzongpa(who is in love with Farida jalal, daughter of Dr.Shree raam lagoo-an alcohal vendor. Farida loves Rishi)and becomes friend with him after a little bit of clash. Together they confront another gangster Ranjeet.Rishi insulted by girl friend`s father starts some illegal dealings, in order to become rich. There onwards the movie becomes a typical Hindi movie potboiler and Mahesh bhatt looses control over the direction of the movie.
But overall it makes a good viewing.

Heard this piece after very long time. Is this Bhavna Bhatt related to Mahesh Bhatt? Just curious. She was there in Do Jasoos-75 and that also with RK & RK.
