“Besharam”(1978) was directed by Deven Verma for Navratan Films, Bombay. The movie had Amitabh Bachchan. Sharmila Tagore, Amjad Khan, Bindu, Deven Verma, Nirupa Roy, A K Hangal, Ifthikar, Imtiaz, Jagdish Raj, G M Durrani, Shamim Banu, Dhumal, Mohan Choti, Uma Dhawan, Kamal Bhatia, Gopi Krishna, Helen, Jayshree T etc in it.
This movie had come at a time when Amitabh Bachchan was at the zenith of his career and every movie that he touched used to become successfully. But this movie turned out to be an exception. Deven Verma, the maker of this movie took the movie watchers for granted and made a movie with a very poor storyline and even the presence of Amitabh Bachchan could not prevent this movie from being washed out. I had gone to watch this movie, but I found this movie so boring that I left the movie hall at the interval.
Little wonder that I do not remember much about the movie or its songs. In any case the songs of the movie too failed to become popular.
Here is the first song from “Besharam”(1978) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Lata. Yogesh is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.
The song is picturised on Sharmila Tagore as a stage dance song. Sharmila Tagore is seen giving a dance performance in front of a house full audience. Amitabh Bachchan is seen in the audience, seated in the front row of course.
