Festivals are integral part of our culture and traditions. And the films, songs associated with mythological themes, festivals are integral part of nostalgia of music lovers like me and those who grew up listening such songs in their respective ‘formative years’ of life.
As I have noted earlier in one of my post that every Janmashtami I am reminded of the following songs which were frequently heard during those days on loud speakers;
Kanhaiyya kanhaiyaa tujhe aana padega (Maalik- 1972)
Shor mach gaya shor dekho aaya makhan chor (Badlaa-1974)
Krishna Krishna bolo Krishna (Naya Din Nayi Raat-1974)
Govind bolo hari gopal bolo (chhup chhup meera roye..- Johny Mera Naam-1970)
And I have shared this song almost three years back to Atul ji, but the right time for these posts was yet to come I think.
While the above songs missed the bus on the Janmashtami occasion in 2013, there were no posts on the blog during the Janmashtami festival in 2014.
Since I am also away from my base station since a week, I hope to share atleast one or two songs from my list and holding the rest for a detailed post in future (Of course for the special occasion of Janmashtami festival)
So, as we are approaching Janmashtami, here is one of the songs which is from the film ‘Naya Din Nayee Raat-1974’.
“Naya Din Nayi Raat” (1974) was a ‘Jamu Pictures’, Madras, presentation and directed by A Bhimsingh.
The movie had Sanjeev Kumar,Jaya Bhaduri, Pinki, Sunder, Johny Whisky, Dilip Dutt, Polson, Keshav Rana, Hameed, Pt. Vasant D.Purnik, Lalita Kumari, Mukri, V.Gopal, Master Ajiz, Swaraj, Bihari, Shivraj, Rinku, Dada Mirasi, Narmada Shankar, Manorama, Lalita Pawar, Indira Bansal,Devki,Nazneen, TunTun, Shyama, Farida Jalal, Om Prakash (in friendly appearance) and David and Mohan Sharma in ‘Special Roles’.
This film is better known for the nine different roles played by Sanjeev Kumar.
Lyrics of this film are penned by Rajinder Krishan and Music is composed by Laxmikant – Pyarelal.
