“Do Aur Do Paanch”(1980) was directed by Rakesh Kumar for Devar Films, Madras. The movie had Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Parween Babi, Lalita Pawar, Arti, Dr Shreeram Laagoo, Sajjan, Master Bittu, Kader Khan, Jagdish Raj, Mohan Sherry, Vikas Anand, Goga Kapoor, Kirti Kumar, Yunus Parwez, T P Jain, Gurbachan, Gyandev Agnihotri, Subhash Sharma etc in it, with Omprakash, Ram Sethi and Jagdeep in guest appearances.

The movie, as can be seen from the starcast, was a multistarrer. But the movie turned out to be a damp squib, because the makers of this movie thought that whatever was going to be dished out to the public would be lapped up by them unconditionally. The movie had a ridiculous story line that failed to hold the attention of the movie goers. I in fact walked out of the movie hall at the half time interval itself. That way, this movie was one of those movies of 1970s that failed at the box office despite boasting the most saleable star cast of the era.

I did not recall much of the story (there was hardly any story in it in any case). And I found it difficult to appreciate the music of this song it. Now, with the benefit of hindsight, I can say that the songs on their own are nice songs if enjoyed as standalone songs and not as part of this movie.

I have discussed one song from this movie. Today (14 november 2015) is Children’s day in India. It turns out that “Do Aur Do Paanch”(1980) had a song that could be considered a Children’s song. So here is this song from “Do Aur Do Paanch”(1980). The song is picturised as a fancy dress song on stage in a school where children, dressed as various animals, sing and dance. Villain’s also dressed as animals, also enter the stage and hijact the show. Hema Malini and Parveen Babi, seated in the audience, are convinced that it is the handiwork of Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor. They go to the two heroes and order them to restore normalcy. So Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor enter the stage , dressed appropriately as jackasses, overcome the villains (dressed as lions etc) and the day is saved.

The song is sung by Lata (lip synced by Master Bittu dressed as a rabbit),Mehmood (lip synced by Goga Kapoor in a lion suit), Kishore Kumar (Amitabh Bachchan in a jackass suit), Amit Kumar (lip synced by Shashi Kapoor, in another jackass suit) and chorus. Amitabh Bachchan and Master Bittu also get to utter one line each.

Anjaan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Rajesh Roshan.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me for this occasion of Children’s day by Peevesie’s mom.

sab bakwaas hai sab bakwaas
sab bakwaas hai sab bakwaas
baazoo main hai taakat jiski
chalti hai hukoomat uski
hai duniya ka dastoor yahi
sab galat yahaan ka ?? sahi
sab bakwaas
kisne ki prem ki baat
use humaare saamne laaye jaaye
hum use sakht se sakht sazaa denge

hazoor hazoor hazoor
meri itti si ilitza hai
in chhoti chhoti baaton pe
kaahe ka gussa hai
hazoor hazoor hazoor
meri itti si iitiza hai
in chhoti chhoti baaton pe
kaahe ka gussa hai

abe humen sikhaata hain
baatein banata hain
lao use humare saamne
warna sabka khaatma hua jaata hai

nahin
teri khushi jungle ke raaja
khaana ho to mujhko khaajaa
teri khushi jungle ke raaja
khaana hai to mujhko khaaja
prem ki raah mein mar jaaoonga
marte marte keh jaaoonga
prem ki raah mein mar jaaoonga
marte marte keh jaaoonga
prem bina yeh jag soona
prem nahin toh kya jeena
prem se hamko jeene do
jeene do
jeene do
prem se hamko jeene do
aaaa aaaa aaa

(animal sounds)
Aaa aaa aaa

Sab ke sab badaayi kar rahe thhe
Aur koi nahin hai na

o lakshman ho lage zam ke
aaj chhakke chhuda de zaalim ke
o paapi zaalim ki gardan marod do
bada khoon piya hai nichod do
o paapi zaalim ki gardan marod do
bada khoon piya hai nichod do

(bolo bhaaiyon ab iska kya kiya jaaye
Kya kiya jaaye iska haanye
)
isse maar do isse maar do
warna yeh humko maarenga
isse maar do
isse maar do
warna yeh humko maarenga

bas bas
chod do ise
bahut ho gaya
to bolo
bolo
prem se hamko jeene do,
jeene do jeene do
prem se hamko jeene do,
zakhmi dil seene do

prem se hamko jeene do

There was famous fictitious character Suresh. The actors in the movie would resort to ‘arre woh apna Suresh’ ‘Kaun Suresh’ ‘arre apna Suresh’ ‘achha woh’ and so on
