Missing Films of 1960s – 30
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

Before I started working on this post, I was under the misconception that this film has already opened its account on our blog. Why I have carried this impression, I myself am not sure. This has happened with me a few times. On a couple of occasions, I even have sent an SOS message to Atul ji, just to confirm. Sometimes, this feeling that a particular song or a particular film is already present on our blog, is so strong, that either I will not look it up. Or if I do, then I don’t believe that it is not present. It makes me feel that there is some error in the data files. And that is when the SOS message to Atul ji happens. Maybe, it is because that at some point in time in the past, I have thought about writing up a particular song. That desire is so intense, that an impression stays in the mind that it has happened, even though I did not really get around to doing it, for some reason.

Here is a song from Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. It is written by Anjaan and Kalyanji Anandji are the music directors. It is sung by Asha Bhonsle, Mahendra Kapoor and Lata Mangeshkar.

This movie had great songs. All Eight of them. But a lousy story line (I can see a whole lot of Atulites chuckling right Rajaji?)

This article marks the 1000th song contribution by Prakashchandra in the blog.

We in this blog have nearly thirty odd people, may be a little more, who could be called blog regulars. They visit the blog regularly, comment on it regularly and they are contributors to the blog as well, in one way or the other.

I have met a few blog regulars over the years and I have interacted with several others on phone, e mail, whatsapp etc. Blog regulars too have met each other either personally or on whatsapp, facebook, email, phone etc. We these days have get togethers of regulars which we call “gangout”, which is a word of our own making. Nearly a dozen gangouts of blog regulars have already taken place so far.

We in this blog had two new resolutions and I had decided to stick to them as long as I can. One was to introduce a “new” movie daily and another was to to close the account of another movie by YIPPying it.

We are in may 2017, and both these resolutions have finally seen breaks. For instance, there was no YIPPEE song on 13 may 2017, a day that had only one post, a post that introduced a “new” song. The string on YIPPEE posts was in fact broken a few days earlier on 6 may itself when I posted a song that I thought was YIPPYing its movie but I was wrong. The “new” post string had got broken a while ago.

One more film to add to the list. Today’s Yippeee film is ‘Hamaare Gham Se Mat Khelo’ from 1967. Being a film of relatively recent vintage, I am surprised that I am not able to find this song online. This song was heard fairly frequently on the radio in those days, but it seems to have dropped out of the collective memory.

Atul ji’s 10K Song Milestone Celebrations – 14
———————————————————————-

So, let me start by prefacing that that I am probably the slowest contributor of this blog. While people like Sudhir ji have over a 1000 posts, and my own mother is slowly inching towards 200, this one is a measly tenth post by me. Earlier college and now my work life, leaves me with barely any time and energy to write for this much loved blog of ours. However, I still do lurk and read regularly everything that all of you write. And that’s when I realize, my busy schedule is probably just an excuse for my laziness. For when, Atulji can have written a whopping 10,000! Posts, what other reason can be there for me not having more than ten?

Sureeli Suman – 25
—————————

As repeatedly mentioned earlier, those were the days when under ‘Super Cassettes Industries Limited’ banner, Gulshan Kumar had released a number of Devotional and Gazal cassettes under T-Series, to the utter joy of real good taste music lovers.  He had many singers as well as many MDs under contract and had made a bank of songs suitable for various situations and had used them in films, whenever needed.

REPORT ON MUMBAI GANGOUT – Part 2
—————————————–

……Javed ji was introduced to Sadanand ji, as they were meeting each other for the first time. Even I had met him for the first time, though we had E-mail communications earlier. It so happened that, in the last Mumbai Gangout which Sudhir ji attended, he had gifted all of us a copy of Javed ji’s first Hindi book ( he has more books in Urdu), ” Kuchh kalaakaar-kuchh yaden “. After reading that book, I wrote a mail to Javed ji about certain discrepancies, I had found in the book. Actually I was hesitant whether to write such a mail to him, but my adventurism won over me and the mail was sent finally.

Aah, the Yippeee sound for today. The film is from 1962 – ‘Apna Banaa Ke Dekho’. And the song – and elusive and obscure entity that I had not heard before myself. As I waded through the possible candidates, searching for the song that would complete the itinerary for the particular film, my fingers paused as this 1962 film. I was under the impression that this film would already be Yippeee’d, given the familiarity level and the comparative availability of songs. As I checked the numbers, I myself was surprised – that after six songs having been posted for this film, there still was a seventh song waiting to be brought on.
