Shabnam (1964) is a fantasy adventure, a mix of comedy, action and intrigue in the royal palace. With the combination of Mehmood (still trying at that time to succeed as a hero), Sheikh Mukhtar, Jeevan, Helen, Vijay Laxmi, Mukri, Mohan Choti etc., the roles and story line is almost predictable. Despite the words of this song, the picturisation of this song is anything but melancholic. This song is a dance song, where Cuckoo and her troop of dancers sing and dance this song. The dance performance is being watched by many people including Nargis, who is watching it disinterestedly. Her face perks up when she finds Raj Kapoor joining in the dance performance in disguise. As with the other song picturised on Helen, the quality of on screen situation and picturization is average. However, the song is mesmerizing, if one listens only to the audio, without any visual distractions.
