Today’s song is a rare song from a C grade Stunt film-Khooni Laash-43. This film was made by Amrit pictures. The name of Producer or the Director of this film is not mentioned in HFGK. This is one of the several problems of the C grade Stunt/ Action films, made on shoestring budgets. Most times the film booklet was not issued and in maximum cases the song records were also not issued commercially. In some films, selected songs are available on records. In the cast also only 4 names are given. The music director was K.Narayan Rao.

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2011-2021) – Song No. 1

Blog Ten year Challenge, which was started in 2019 and which continued in 2020 as well, now enters 2021. This post is the first post for blog ten year challenge (2011-2021).
January 2011 was quite like January 2021, with only one or two songs being posted everyday. Unlike 2021, we already had DOT days in the year 2011 by 11 january 2011. Thankfully, these days I am very particular about avoiding DOT days at any cost. As a result, the just concluded year 2020 sa NIL DOT days. The only other year in the blog that had NIL DOT days as the year 2017.

I heard this above ghazal recital and liked the simplicity of expressions. It was credited to Momin Khan Momin(1800–14 May 1852), so I thought there has to be more to this ghazal. I found a ‘Deewan-e-Momin’ on Rekhta and confirmed that there are few more ash’aarin the complete ghazal. He was a contemporary of Mirza Ghalib.A most famous sha’ir by MomimKh`an Momin is this:
Tum mere paas hotey ho goyaa
Jab koyi dusraa nahin hotaa
O naina maanat naahin kehna

Today’s song is from the film Chehra-1946. The film was so obscure that it had no face to recognise in the crowd of 153 Hindi films that were produced in 1946. The film was made by an unknown banner – ” Upright pictures, Bombay”. The director was Rajendra Sharma, for whom this was his First film as a Director. He went on to direct 4 more films namely, Jal Tarang-49, Ehsan-54, Dost-54 and Indra Leela-56, before disappearing from the arena of films. The Music Director was M.A.Mukhtar.

Yearwise discussion of Lata Mangeshkar songs in HFM: Part X: Year 1956

No we have reached part ten of this ambitious series. Lata Mangeshkar sang her first Hindi film songs in 1946. She sang just four songs that year and 5 songs the next year. By the time she completed one decade of her career, she had already sung more than one thousand songs in HFM, becoming the first playback singer to achieve this feat.
1956 was the eleventh year of Lata Mangeshkar as a playback singer in Hindi movies. In other words she entered the second decade of her HFM career this year. If she had sung 4 songs in 3 movies in 1946, 1956 saw her singing a whopping 204 songs in 49 movies.
