Today’s song is from a C grade Costume film – Naqabposh-1956.
The film was produced by N.Buli and it was directed by a debutante Ram Pahawa, who had been an assistant to many directors hitherto. This was the only film that he directed and after this, he returned to being assistant to directors again. There were two MDs, Dhoomi Khan and Ramlal (Chaudhari). The cast of the film was Chitra, Manhar Desai, Kumkum, Kamal, Leela Mishra, Gope, Bhudo Advani, Fazlu, Anwar Hussain, Maruti and other regular stunt film artists.

‘Ham Deewaane’ (1964) was produced by Natubhai Shah under the banner of Young India Entertainers and was directed by Master Bhagwan. The cast included Chandrashekhar, Master Bhagwan, Mumtaz, Helen, Iftekhar, Agha, Rajan Haksar, Maruti, Kundan, Anwar, Kanchanmala etc. This film was one among many attempts by Master Bhagwan to revive his filmy career which was being reduced to acting in small roles. However, this film was also an attempt to revive the musical career of C Ramchandra who composed the songs for this film as Anna Saheb, the name he had often used when associated with the films produced/directed by Master Bhagwan.

It had Shatrughan Sinha, Reena Roy, Pran, Madan Puri, Anwar Hussain, Birbal, Sulochana, Baldev Khosa, Mac Mohan, Shabana, Ranveer Raj, Hareesh, Vandana Shastri, Jankidas, Jagdish Raj, Vikas Anand, Azad, Rajan Kapoor, Master Raju and others. Raza Murad, Bindu and Rajendra Nath had special appearances in this movie. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 20.04.1978. This movie has four songs written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and R.D Burman was the composer for this movie. Asha Bhonsle, Hemant Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Mohd Rafi and Manna Dey were the singers for the songs in this movie.

Today’s song is from the movie which is mostly known for its’ song ‘ik ritu aaye ik ritu jaaye’ and also for being directed by Subhash Ghai. I had never watched this movie till recently. I watched movies like ‘Kaalicharan’ and ‘Vishwanath’ too on TV many years after their release.
