Missing Films of 1960s – 7
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –
As we are moving into the 1960s, exploring for the films that are yet to be showcased on our blog, I have already introduced 4 films from 1961 and then I had moved into 1962, adding 2 films for that year. But with today’s post, I revert back to 1961. Clearly, there is one more film from 1961 that I missed. The film is ‘Zamaana Badal Gaya’. Its songs are available, and had not yet been introduced here. An oversight on my part.

Hullo to all in Atuldom
Its been three weeks since the gang out happened in Bangalore. I am sure fellow atulites would be waiting for a report on the happenings of that day. But that is not the beginning. It all began with the news that there was going to be a visitor to Bangalore in the week preceding Diwali. That started the chain of mails to coax other Atulites into making a visit. I think this is the right place to mention that this is that period in the year when birds migrate from the colder regions of the world to India which is definitely warmer. One of our gang member joins the birds in this home coming. The first person to jump to say the dates were ideal for the gangout was Sudhirji and YYIIPPEEEE master. Guruji conveyed that he would be unable to make it but Ben Katie was 100% sure she would join us over the net and be our international delegate. There were only 77 mails exchanged to put the whole meet in place. My mind was playing the song “Jahaan Char Yaar Miljaaye”.

If a “Miss India “ contestant were to be asked, during the question- answer round, “What would be your next goal, if you were crowned ?”, she is unlikely to say “Mother India” :). But that is exactly what has been seen in Nargis’s celluloid journey. After her portrayal in & as ‘Miss India’ (January 1957), which cannot be described a winner at box office, she went on to portray ‘Mother India’ (October 1957) which turned out to be a land mark cinema.

Shankar-Jaikishen in the 50s
The second song in the series “Shankar-Jaikishen in the 50s” is a duet of Asha and Manna Dey from the film “Baaghi Sipaahi”(1958).
By 1955, with great efforts and difficulties, Shankar Jaikishan came out of the rigouring influence and control of Raj Kapoor on their music compositions. Now they were free to fly high and be the “Numero Uno “.

Let us today listen this haunting melody, a gem of a song, long lost undeservedly. I wonder why RonoDeb Mukherji, the music Director, faded after certainly an applaudable album of ‘Tu hi meri zindagi’ (1965).

With ASAD covering 11K + songs till date, finding a new song to present, also having a link/sound track to attach, becomes more and more involved/difficult task for a contributor. I am sure one of the simple joys for the contributors must be (I am only a new entrant to the tribe) to locate one. And, if it happens to be a popular song it is an icing on the cake.
Here I am with such a joyful find. Like others have expressed it at times: “How come this song has escaped being presented?”

All of us have, arguably, resorted to day dreaming at some point. Daydreaming is a short term flight of our mind and thoughts from one’s immediate existence, during which the mind moves from reality, and into the realm of fantasy, especially one of wishful happening, hopes or ambitions, imagined as coming to pass, which is experienced while being awake. Daydreaming surfaces because there is no rationing or moral policing to check them!. The state of daydreaming is between waking (with the ability to think rationally and logically) and sleeping.
