A few months back, I stumbled upon a Blog on blogpost.com with a caption, ‘Arjun Hingorani’. This was the only post which was dated March 28, 2010. More or less the similar post appeared on wordpress.com with a caption, ‘Arujunhingorani’s Blog’. The Blog had only one post dated March 29, 2010, introducing himself as producer-director-actor and the spiritual author. His last qualification surprised me. So, I read the entire post in which he wrote about his early life in Jacobabad (Sind) before partition, the difficulties he faced after migration to India, his stint with Hindi film industry and finally turning to his spiritual journey to Vrindavan near Mathura where he spent his last years. I was familiar with his name since his film, ‘Kab? Kyon? Aur Kahaan?’ (1970) was released and about his film titles with ‘KKK’. It was only when I read his Blog post, I felt that he needed to find a place in our Blog.

Jaspinder Narula- a singer who is trained in Punjabi music, bhajans & Sufiana compositions initially stayed away from film singing. Under advice from Kalyanji (of the Kalyanji Anandji duo) she moved to Bombay (now Mumbai). Kalyanji’s son & music director Viju Shah, Anu Malik & Nadeem Shravan gave her, her first songs in ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’; ‘Virasat’ and ‘Judaai’ respectively. She has sung around 150-200 songs in Hindi films. She has a unique voice that has a ‘good throw’; in the same fashion as Usha Uthup or Shamshad Begum. I don’t know if I am able to express my thoughts, regarding the voice quality she has correctly, but hearing today’s song will, hopefully, help me put my point across.

#the Decade of Eighties – 1981 – 1990 #
———————————————————————
Today 14th November is celebrated as ‘children’s day’ in our country. It is also the birthday of our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He was very fond of children. While earlier every 14th November was celebrated being the birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru it was in 1954 that it was first time celebrated as ‘children’s day’ too. I was looking for a song for this occasion and I thought of this song which I like very much. It is from the movie “Hum Bachche Hindustaan Ke-1984”. In 1983-1985 I was staying at Akola with my grandparents. I was studying at Akola for my Std. 11th -12th. There we had a group of friends that also doubled as our cricket playing group. We used to watch ‘Chitrahaar’ on the ‘black and white-TV’ at the home of one of our friends home who was lucky to have TV at his home those days. 🙂

#Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Debutant Movie)

“Agar abhee naa to phir kabhee naa …” that is what I thought on listening to this today’s song. Since I want to see it here on the blog as early as possible, I am sharing it a couple of days after I came across it. This song is from the movie ‘Chor Ho To Aisaa-1978’. The music for this movie was composed by R.D. Burman. So, this is the third movie after ‘Jeewanmukt-1973’, and ‘Ujaalaa Hi Ujaalaa-1974’ where the music for the movies was composed by R.D Burman and they were missing from the blog till I introduced them here. I was under the impression that all movies, at least from the ‘seventies’’ where music composer was R.D. Burman have already got represented on the blog. That is why it comes as a surprise whenever I come across R.D. Burman of 1970s that are not yet represented in the blog.

Writing is a constant search for someone who understands it. I love literature but I would like to love it a hundred times more. I am not an angry young man. I am a hungry young man. I want to learn Kannada, Urdu, Punjabi, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu. I want to love literature in a hundred different ways. My only worry is that I cannot love it enough.
The relationship between Rabindranath Tagore and me is that of a donor and a forever unsatisfied solicitor (अतृप्त याचक).
Thus said P. L. Deshpande on his literary journey in Film’s Division’s documentary on his 60th birthday. What he said sums up his infinite love for literature.

“Heer Ranjha” is a tragic romance from Punjabi literature. The story has been used in many films over the years. I know of the 1970 & 1992 versions. The 1970 version had Priya Rajvansh & Raaj Kumar playing the tragic lovers and the Anil Kapoor- Sridevi played the lovers in the 1992 version.

kat gayi umr meri to mujhe pataa ye chalaa
zindagi sirf kati hai isse jiyaa hi kahaan
This is the sum and substance of a film which I propose to take up for discussion in this article.
There comes a time in every person’s life when the thought of death becomes scary especially for those who have unsatiable ambitions and desires. Taking this unusual theme, a bunch of new film makers took upon themselves of making a film, ‘Asambhava’ (1985). I came to know about this film very recently when I stumbled upon the abovementioned song from the film. Fortunately, the film is available for viewing on one of the video sharing platforms.
