“Anand Aur Anand-1984” , a “social” movie, was directed by Dev Anand for his home productions Navketan, Bombay. Dev Anand was the producer of this movie and he acted in this movie as well. He introduced his son Suneil Anand in this movie along with a newcomer actress Natasha Sinha. The other cast of this movie included Rakhi Gulzar, Raj Babbar, Smita Patil, Vishwajeet, Rakesh Bedi, Gautam Sareen, Birbal, Sudhir, Zubeida (2), Bina, Ghanshyam, Pardesi, R.S. Chopda, Mahajan, Narinder Mehta, Rahul Sharma, Ashok Sharma, Davinder, Ravinder Arora, C.A. Bhapaiyya and others. Music for this movie was composed by R.D. Burman. Anjaan wrote all the six songs for this movie. The playback singers for this movie are Kishore Kumar, Pinaz Masani, Abhijeet, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Shailendra Singh, and Dilraj Kaur.

Hangal, Bharat Kapoor, Urmila Bhatt, Sushma Seth, Neelima, Beena, Master Raju, Naaz, Sudhir, Tom Alter, Raj Kaul, Mohan Shery, Roshan Taneja, Madhup Sharma, Bhushan Tiwari, Prem Sagar, Pardesi, R.S. Chopra, Peelu Wadia, Mona Bahal, Sudhir Dalvi, Colonel Raj Bharti, Ravinder, Malvinder, Ratan Gaurang, Radheshyam and others. Child artistes Bittu, Ravi Walecha, Vikas, Ritwik, Baby Khushboo, Sandeep, Bunty, Rajesh, Baby Shweta and Sood also featured in this movie. The cast of this movie has a long list including Dev Anand, Dr Shreeram Lagoo, Anupam Kher, Tabbassum, Ramesh Dev, Bharat Kapoor, Pinchoo Kapoor, Dinesh Hingoo, Mohan Shery, Sunil Dhawan, Amarnath Mukherjee, Parvez, Bandini, Leena Das, Rajrani and others. Richa Sharma, Atley Brar, Bunty Bahal, Tabbu, Johny Garner were the debutant who made their debuts with this movie. Zarina Wahab made a special appearance in this movie.

The song in this post should have, ideally, been posted yesterday or the day before. But like the phrase says ‘Better Late Than Never’. And, I am not giving any excuses for the delay. 🙂
The song features the Ever- not Green- but Young (at heart) Dev Anand in what was his last lead role in a film that was neither produced nor directed by him. Prior to this, he had acted in ‘Amir Garib’ in 1975, which was produced & directed by Mohan Kumar.
