In most Hindi movies, the actors lead reel lives that has little resemblence to real life of normal people. And it was widely believed (and the myths are further perpetuated by people) that movie watchers used movies to live their fantasies and so they wanted to relive their fantasies in the movies instead of being reminded of their day to day life. And that explained the larger than life characters in Hindi movies.

The news came in yesterday that the renowned Ghazal Singer Jagjit Singh was no more. And I was surprised to know that he was 70 years of age when he died. And then I realised that I had first heard his ghazals in 1980s, which happens to be three decades ago. So he was indeed that old.

When I came across this song for the first time, which was just a few hours ago, I was not aware about the details of this song. It was only when I dug up the information about this movie that I realised that this song is from “Chaand Aur Suraj”(1965).

“Ishq Par Zor Nahin” (1970) is a movie produced by “Twinkle Stars” production. Suresh Saigal was the producer whereas Ramesh Saigal directed the movie. Unlike Ramse Brothers, these Saigal brothers did not produce Horror movies, I am sure.:)

“Aatmaram” (1979) is a recent movie bty the standards of this blog, but this movie is nearly as obscure as many movies of much older vintage. The reasons are not far to seek. The movie was a smaller budget movie with actors like Shatrughan Sinha, Vidya Sinha,Bindiya Goswami,Amjad Khan etc in it. The movie was directed by Sohanlal Kanwar and the movie sank without a trace.
