Hullo Atuldom
A very very Happy Holi to all the followers of this wonderful blog. May there be lots of ‘rang and umang’ all around.
I have been following this blog for 13 years i.e. from March 2009. The head-over-heels involvement began almost instantly. I see that 66 songs, connected with this colourful festival, have been posted in all these years. I find a few songs showcasing the festival have been posted on ‘non-holi’ days too. So that must indicate that we will not have sufficient songs in coming years to post on festival days. But that is not so.

Today’s song is from the film with a funny name- Pilpili Saheb-1954.
When I saw this film’s posters in Hyderabad in 1954 , I laughed at the title of the film. I thought that the film had to do something with the yellow colour ! None of my friends knew the meaning of this word. After intense discussion, we decided to go to our Hindi teacher-Mathur sir. He was from Allahabad and was a very jovial person. He treated the students with a lot of humour and gentle talk. So we did not feel any fear or awkwardness to ask him this question. Otherwise, in those days asking such questions to any teacher was a certain invitation to caning !

C Ramchandra – 40th remembrance day anniversary on 05/01/2022
—————————————————————————
Rafi Sahab’s Legendary Associations – 7
—————————————————-
Rafi sahab sang 80 + songs under C. Ramchandra, starting from 1946 to 1977 beginning with Bachchon ka Khel(1) and Safar(2) in 1946. This is followed by 6 songs in ‘Saajan’(1947), two each in “Khidki’ and ‘Nadiya ke Paar’ in 1948.
Two of the most melodious Solos, which made both Rafi sahab and C. Ramchandra , famous have seen the light of day by this time. ‘These are ‘keh ke bhi na aaye tum, ab chhupne lage taare’ in Safar 1946 and ‘ham ko tumhaara hi aasra tum hamaare ho na ho’ in Saajan 1947. Geeta Dutt, Lalita Deulkar and Shamshad Begum feature in group songs and duets with Rafi in all these films till 1949.

“The Right And the wrong”(1970) was written, produced and directed by Harbans (Micky) Kumar for Deluxe Films Corporation. It was the first Carribean (West Indian) colour movie, produced in Trinidad and Tobago, a country with large population of Indian origin emigrants who left India and settled in that as well as neighbouring countries (such as Guyana, Suriname etc) a few centuries ago. Many West Indian Cricketers with Indian sounding names are descendents of those Indian origin people. Names like Sonny Ramadhin, Rohan Kanhai, Alvin Kalicharan, Shivnaraine Chanderpal, Ravi Rampal, Darren Ganga, Ramnaresh Sarwan are familiar to cricket lovers.
