Today’s song is a Special song having a Historical Value. It is from the film Andhon ki Duniya-1947.

There is a solid reason why I am calling this song a Special song with Historical value. Every singer has a First song in his career. For an ordinary or a less famous singer this First song has no problem, but in the case of an established, famous, Popular and for one who has sung in several languages, the First Song has many cousins. First song means which song ? Is it the First recorded song, or the First released song, or First song in any language or First song in Hindi Film or First song filmed on the singer on screen or the First Playback song in Hindi film or a First song as NFS or a first solo song ?

#the Decade of Eighties – 1981 – 1990 #
————————————————————————

During the months of November-December 2022, I had presented couple of ‘drunkard’ category or ‘drink driven’ category songs on the blog. The last one was posted on 03.12.2022. I think the blog is ‘overdue’ 🙂 for another such song.

So, here is a song from the movie ‘Ashaanti-1982’.

Sudhir Mishra has been known for making off-beat/parallel Hindi films. ‘Ye Wo Manzil To Nahin’ (1988) was his first off-beat film as a director. The film won the National Film Award for the best debut film of a director. Thereafter, he directed another 15 off- beat films, the last being ‘Afwaah’ (2022) which is awaiting release. Off-beat films, by their very nature, would attract only a select group of audiences. Hence, it is not likely that most of these films would qualify as box office hits. I have not heard of any of Sudhir Mishra’s films as box office success. Some of his films first got released in the international film festivals. Almost all of his films were critically acclaimed. Despite this, it was difficult to manage theatrical release for some of his films.

# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (‘Yippeeee’ Movie- Chhoti Bahu-1971)
——————————————-——————————

While discussing a song from “Aag Aur Daag”(1971) on 31 December 2022, I had mentioned that :-

We have been introducing new movies on the blog at a fair rate. Somehow in this process our other objective of ‘Yippeeee’ing’ the movies closer to their final songs have taken a back seat. With this post we once again resume this activity and start taking such movies to ‘Yippeeee-land’.

But it was, as they say, ‘easier said than done :). The ‘Yippeeee’ing’ activity somehow didn’t gather the momentum that I expecting. I had to blame myself only, because I have not been able to execute this activity in a ‘planned’ way. No issues, I am again re-starting this activity and this time I am going to make it a regular feature here 🙂 (bolne par koi ki paabandi thhode hi hai hamaare desh mein 🙂 ) …

Today’s movie is another movie waiting for a long time to join the ‘Yippeeee’ed Movies’ Club. This movie is ‘Chhoti Bahu’ of the year ‘1971’ and its penultimate song was posted in April’2022.

Hullo Atuldom

Unbelievable!!!! It is already one year. I don’t know if it is coincidence or the creator thought it was the best date to recall his beloved creation.
Basant Panchami, celebrated as Saraswathi Pooja in many parts of India, marks the preparation for the arrival of Spring. Everything everywhere is dressed in the colours of Yellow- the flowers of the mustard crop a colour associated with Mata Saraswathi. People dress in yellow dresses, make delicacies that are yellow in colour etc. Many families mark this day by sitting with babies and young children, encouraging their children to write their first words with their fingers, and some study or create music together.

Tribute to Lata Mangeshkar – 2

Yaraa seeli seeli
birha ki raat ka jalnaa
dholaa seeli seeli
yeh bhi koyi jeenaa hai
yeh bhi koyi marnaa

O how slow is the night(lamp)
Burning to ambers, Oh love
Oh love, the slow burn
of the lonely lamp.
is this way of the living?
Or it is the way of the dead.

tooti hui choodiyon se
jodoon yeh kalaayi main ae
pichhli gali mein jaane
kya chhod aayi main
beetee huyi galiyon se ae
phir se guzarna yaraa

broken are they,
the bangles I try to adorn.
(They were whole once-my loved ones)
In the lane behind me,
What have I left behind.
(something in the previous life)
Those same lanes, call me,
I must pass by them again, love.

pairon mein na saaya koyi
sar pe na saayin re
mere saathh jaaye naa
meri parchhaayi re
baahar ujaalaa hai
andar veeraana

No one beside me, no shade (for feet).
No Lord(benevolent),
even to care for me.
No one goes with me,
not even my shadow.
All brightness is on the outside.
Inside it is all dark and desolate, my love.

In 1990, I was fascinated with this song. Not seen the song anywhere, only heard it on the radio. I don’t remember what else I knew about it, only that Dimple Kapadia was the actress, singing this on screen.
