Shankar of Shankar Jaikishan promoted Sharda in a big way and this led to considerably difference of opinion between the duo. Sharda had an unconventional voice and she obviously was limited in her range compared to say Lata who was the female singer of choice by default for them till then.

I never tire of saying that irrespective of the grading of the movie (A, B, C etc grade), the music of all these movies was always A grade.

When it comes to remembering important dates, I am quite forgetful and absent minded. The only important date in my family that I never forget is my daughter’s birthday, because she looks forward to it from many days in advance. Other than that, details like my wife’s birthday, our wedding anniversary etc are dates that I always forget, much to the chagrin of my wife.

In western cultures, only one day in the spring season , called Valentine’s day is dedicated for love. In Indian culture , on the other hand, an entire season, viz the rainy season is the season of love. It did not begin with the advent of Bollywood movies. Not just this song, I am sure many great gems of yesteryears are missing from the blog. But I will gradually add all these songs. The fact that so many great songs are still missing from this blog despite the blog boasting of over 2600 songs is an indication that there are far too many great songs that were created during the golden era of Bollywood movie music.

I sincerely believe that parents should take care of their kids and they should not deprive them of their basic requirements. And what did a kid like me want in 1972 as his basic requirement ? I badly wanted to see “Seeta Aur Geeta” (1972). The songs of this movie had such a pied piper like effect that everyone was attracted towards the movie halls screening this movie. My elders too agreed to take me to watch this movie and I was so happy with the prospect of being able to watch the movie and to have the best moment of my life till then.

I was not aware about this movie called “Poonam” (1952). Once I became aware of this movie and I began to search for songs of this movie, I found that almost all these movies were sung by Lata and they were picturised on Kamini Kaushal as dance songs.
