“Phir wahi Raat” (1980) was produced by N N Sippy and directed by Danny. This suspense movie had Rajesh Khanna, Kim, Danny, Suresh Oeroi, Aruna Irani, Lalita Pawar, Jagdeep, A K Hangal, Shashikala, Mukri, Shubha Khote etc in it. This movie has many suspects and the least suspected person turns out to be the culprit in the last reel, as befits a classic whodunit. 🙂

Chandi Sona (1977), as the name points out at, is a film about treasure hunt on an island. Most probably a desi version of a Hollywood film. Sanjay Khan in his independent ventures favoured R D Burman. Even in this film it is Pancham, who gives the music.

I realised it only just now, literally at the 11th hour that today (8 march) is the birth anniversary of Sahir Ludhianvi (8 march 1921- 25 october 1980). How could I forget the fact that Sahir Ludhianvi’s birthday falls on the International Women’s day ! This fact was mentioned by Raja while discussing Sahir Ludhianvi song (Aurat ne janam diya mardon ko (Saadhana)) this day two years ago.

This song happens to be the 7600th song on this blog – and I am happy and privileged to have been given the opportunity to present a song on the occasion. When Atul made me the offer earlier today, I gladly accepted. Congratulations, Atul, on this century milestone!

It has been quite a while since I last talked about my dogs. I have in fact so many things to talk about them that I do not know where to begin.
I had discussed it in the past that my dogs, especially Chhote, the younger one would run away from the home. Sometimes Bhhole, the senior of the two , would also run behind Chhote, mainly to accompany him.

In my last post I hoped that Saanp se badhke mera zehar hai would be the last song entry for Zehreela Insaan (1974). Prakashji, with his infinite knowledge of Hindi film songs, though threw water on this hope, when he showed me the existence of this song. Thanks Prakashji! 🙂

Happy (belated) Birthday Danny Denzongpa!!! (DOB 25 february 1948)
How people succeed in their lives after initial struggles and sometimes even after deviating from their original career option (which they have envisaged earlier) has always been a subject of interest for me.
I find such people as inspirational role-models for others. Their success stories are based on perseveresnce and doggedness. They are not only successful, they also contribute in the development of Arts and Culture in Society.
