The song under discussion is a classic example of a song that I thought had already been discussed in the blog long time ago, but I was wrong. This is a song whose lyrics are well known to all, including me, and this song is quite well known to all, even if there may be people like me who are vague about the details of this song.

A semi classical creation from N Dutta. A versatile musician, N Dutta’s films display the range of his creativity. In a career that lasted a better part of three decades from 50s thru 70s, most of his film names sound like B/C grade films, with very few A grade films or known hits to his credit. A few names do stand out as films easily remembered, viz., Chandrakanta, Hum Panchhi Ek Daal Ke, Dharamputra, Saadhna, Dhool Ka Phool, Black Cat, Bhai Bahen, Didi, Naya Raasta etc.

I was not sure how many songs I will be able to discuss today since I am undertaking a long 20 hours journey by train and going by my past experience, I know that internet connectivity is a problem during that time. But I am pleasantly surprised to fingd that the internet has held up for nearly an hour. It helps that the train is passing through an area which is a metropilital city and as such good connectivity is assured as long as the train remains in this area (which means for another 10 minutes). So I may as well make the most of it.

“Jism ko maut aati hain lekin, ruh ko maut aati nahin hain”. These are lines in the song “Kaun hai jo sapno main aayaa” from film “Jhuk Gayaa Aasmaan “(1968), which can be applied to many Hindi films, especially of golden era of Hindi film songs which ‘died’ in no time as soon as they were released. But many of songs from such films remained immortal.
