I have discussed almost all the songs of “Chhaliyaa” (1960). I should rightfully feel like that seeing that I have already discussed as many as six songs from this movie.

I had given up hopes of discussing any songs today seeing that I found myself internet deprived today. I managed to get hold of a computer, which, though falling short of the usual standards of a computer that one is normally used to, has at least a working internet connection. Taking advantage of my good fortune, I have posted discussion on one song just now, and here is another, which I need to discuss before the gift horse decides to bolt away. 🙂

Most people will agree that one Priya Rajwansh is more than enough for one movie. But Chetan Anand obviously did not think so. In “Hindustan Ki Kasam” (1973), she plays double role. In this movie, she plays two sisters separated at childhood (what an original idea ! 🙂 ). One girl ends up in India and grows up with Indian parents, whereas the other girl ends up in Pakistan and grows up with Pakistani parents.

We often read about real life following reel life and vice versa. I am not talking about movie actors playing roles based on some other real life people. I am talking of the actors playing their own real life stories on the silver screen. There have been quite a few cases where actors enacted their own real life stories in movies.

“Shankar Hussain” (1976) is a movie which has been forgotten with time though it is just over three decades old and is therefore of recent vintage by the standard of this blog. I recall that one of its songs became quite popular and in fact this song is regarded as a classic now. I am talking about the song Kahin ek maasoom naazuk si ladki which is a fantastic song sung by Rafi.

I became aware of the movie “Heer Ranjha” (1970) in 1974, while going through movie magazines, which incidentally were supposed to be out of bounds for school kids barely in their teens. 🙂 But I was a kid who loved reading all kinds of publications, including screenplays of movies too. Yes, those days screenplays of movies used to get published too. I read screenplays of “Bobby” (1973) and “Aasheerwaad” (1968). I never watched these movies and I never thought that I missed anything by not watching them, that is how vivid the screenplays used to be.
