During the early 50s, whenever there was any function, or a marriage or Upnayan ceremony in some relative’s place, I alongwith all my cousins used to have a field day. Such functions were usually held during summer vacations,so there was no tension of Exams or studies. There were about 15-16 of us, both boys and girls put together. One favourite game that we used to play was called ” Bhendya “. This was similar today’s ‘Antakshari ‘. In those times our game consisted of only Marathi songs-Bhavgeets or cinema songs.

The Voice of Mukesh #51
– – – – – – – – – – – – –
The year 1950 saw the release of 36 songs by Mukesh, from 16 films. (This information is as per the Mukesh Geet Kosh). Of these, we already have 28 songs posted here on this blog. This is the 29th Mukesh song from the year 1950. I am continuing the search for the rest. I have been able to locate five more songs, but two songs are still eluding me. One song is from the film ‘Bebas’ – a solo song “Do Dil Hon Do Dilon Ko Ulfat Ka Sahara Ho”. The second song is from the film ‘Preet Ka Geet’ – a group song along with Zohrabai and Geeta Dutt, “Paayal Bole Re”. I request friends and readers on this blog to kindly share any information about the availability of these songs.

This article is the 9000th song post in the blog.
Yesterday, just like that, I googled ‘nine thousand’. Did not expect to find anything really interesting and useful to write about. After all, it is just another number. But really, I was surprised. Wow, never thought I would find such an interesting information description that would be so appropriate for this huge milestone that we have arrived at today.
