Today we pay tribute here on the blog to Mahendra Kapoor, one of the well-known voices of the golden era of Hindi music, on the occasion of his 9th death anniversary. Feroze Khan – a name that forever spells flamboyance and style. Almost sounding like the Kingdom of the Pathaan. A popular and likeable persona who had to face near disapproval as a leading man, till quite many years into his career. And that too, when he decided to take on the industry on his own terms, and set up his own production house, delivering one hit film after another.

Today 21st October 2016 is the birth anniversary of Shammi Kapoor (21.10.1931-14.08.2011) – the ‘charming’ – ‘flamboyant’ – ‘infectious energetic’ (as some sources mentioned it) – ‘graceful’ etc.etc. One may keep on adding the adjectives that would come to mind and when one is talking of Hindi Cinema, we know we are talking of Shammi Kapoor.

In my family and friend circles, there are some musically inclined persons who are fond of Hindi film songs. Among them, I can find fans of Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh, Kishore Kumar, Talat Mehmood etc as playback singers. But I have yet to come across within my same circles anyone who claims to be a fan of Mahendra Kapoor.
