In Bollywood movies, most sad songs are sung by grown ups. Typically a lady, who cannot meet her beloved sings a sad song, or a gent, thinking that his beloved is a “bewafa”, takes to singing a sad song.

I was not aware of this song. I listened to this song just now for the first time. What a wonderful song it is ! It must go down as one of the great romantic songs sung by Kishore Kumar.

I never knew that there was a movie called “Sheikh Chilli” (1956). This B grade movie starred Bhagwan, Mahipal and Shyama. This movie may not have done anything spectacular at the box office otherwise I would have surely heard about this movie.

I was aware of movies called “Dushman” featuring K L Saigal in 1938 and Rajesh Khanna in 1971. But it appears that there was a third “Dushman” too which was released in 1957 and it had Dev Anand in lead role.

This is a song from Didi (1959) and what a song it is ! It is sung by a female voice other than the usual names. It is Sudha Malhotra who has sung this song. Not just singing, she was also the music director of this song. Lyrics were written by Sahir Ludhianvi.
