Actually there were 2 films having this same title. The other film Das Baje or 10 O’ Clock was made in 1958. It was a Crime thriller. Then there was also a film titled 11 Baje or 11 O’Clock made in 1948. This was a Stunt film. Topping the clock another film called 12 O’Clock or Bara baje was made in 1958. 1943 was a year in which the II world war was in full swing. Both sides were almost equal. The effects of the war on India were… it faced the infamous Bengal Famine, caused by the war profiteering. Controls on film production were tightened by the Government. I.P.T.A. became operative with its first staged p0lay ‘ Nibanna’. Film Kismet became one of the biggests Hits ever. V.Shantaram’s Rajkamal Kalamandir debuted with Shakuntala, as did Mehboob with his film Najma. Government made showing of Newsreel before any film mandatory. Film Raj Nartaki’s english version The Court Dancer was exhibited in the USA, first time for an Indian film.

Music was by Shankar Rao Vyas, an old loyal composer of prakash Pictures. 3 Lyricists wrote 8 songs. Pt. Indra (4 songs), Neelkanth Tiwari (3 songs) and Moti B.A. (1 song). The cast of the film was a tested one with record breaking films earlier. Shobhana Samarth, Prem Adib, Umakant, Chandra Mohan, Ram Singh, Raj Adib (brother of prem Adib), Leela Mishra, Ameerbai Karnataki, Janakidas, Laxman, Seetaram and Thaudi with many others.

The Lakshmi Productions, Bombay’s film was directed by Nandlal Jaswantlal. The banner was owned by the Producer Chimanlal Trivedi. Lyricist was Miss Kamal, B.A.. This was a pseudonym of Kavi Pradeep. At that time, he was under contract with Bombay Talkies and could not use his real name . Under this Pen name, he wrote lyrics for four films, namely Kadambari-44, Amrapali-45, Sati Toral-47 and Veerangana-47. Incidentally, all these films were directed by Nandlal Jaswantlal. The music was by H.P.Dass and Manna Dey. His first film as a M.D. The cast of the film was Shbhana Samarth, prem Adib, Jeevan, Badriprasad, rehana, Sankatha prasad (elder brother of lyricist/comedian Kanhaiyalal).

This Bilingual film (Hindi-Marathi) was made by Prabhat Film co. Poona. It was directed byDamle and Fattelal. Raja nene was their assistant, but even his name was shown along with them as the third director. Music was by Keshavrao Bhole. Lyricists were P.L. Santoshi and Pt. Mukhram Sharma- who had become an expert in Marathi, especially after he married the Marathi actress of Prabhat- Shanta Mujumdar. The cast of the film consisted of Hansa Wadkar, Gauri, Shankar rao Kulkarni, Shanta Mujumdar (wife of Pt. Mukhram Sharma), Sumitra , Master Chhotu and others.
