Let me wish everyone a Happy 2020. Hope everyone has a bright, healthy and musically joyful year.

Tina tin ke teena kisi ne dil hai chheenaa this post of Shri Encyclopedia of the blog has inspired my post.

That post has mentioned the variety of roles today’s birthday girl has donned in the movies from the time she debuted in 1950 with “Har Har Mahadev” (please correct me, I may be wrong). I am not trying to write her biodata as I became aware of her only as the hero’s mother, bhabhi, daadi, etc.

Hullo to all in Atuldom

Round up of 2019

An eventful year comes to a close. I have had great experiences that will bring a smile on my face when I think of them or look at the related pictures.

First- my daughter gave me a promotion and I enjoyed every minute of the event. Only feeling at the end of it was— having waited for it from last July, when she announced her intention, I felt January came too soon and the week, with happenings related to the event, was over with the blessings of the elders of the family and good wishes of friends and relatives. And I must thank the Atulites too who came for it.

It was directed by N R Acharya and the music was provided by S K Pal – for whom this film was his swan song. This was his last film as MD. All the 11 songs of the film were written by Bharat Vyas. The cast was Usha Kiran, Pradeep Kumar, Achala Sachdev, Rehana, Sapru, S Nazir, Kumkum and many others including 5 actresses named as Miss Pammi, Miss Usha, Miss Hemlata, Miss Hansa and Miss Sarita as well as a guest artiste- Ulhas.

‘Kshudhit Pashan’ (‘The Hungry Stones’ 1960, Bangla film) was based on a short story of the same name by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. It is said that Gurudev wrote this unusual ghost story towards of end of 19th century based on his visit to Ahmedabad where his elder brother, Satyendranath Tagore ICS, was posted as a District Magistrate. At that time, he had stayed in Shahi Mahal Palace built by Shah Jahan in 1620, situated at the banks of river Sabarmati, a part of which was converted in to residential quarters for civil servants by the British Government. Since during the day time, his brother would go for work as a District Magistrate leaving Gurudev alone in large rooms, the palace gave him a feeling of a haunted house. However, in the story, the names of the place and the river were changed.
