“Shrimatiji” (1952) is a movie that was different from the usual Bollywood movies. Its storyline was not Indian, rather that was drawn from external sources. And it is interesting to find stereotypical depiction of exotic people in this movie and its songs.

“Sheesham” (1952) is one of the earliest movies for which Roshan composed music. I have posted an interesting comedy song from this movie that was sung by Kishore Kumar. Here is another song from this movie. This song is sung by Mukesh and it is a sentimental song by contrast.

When I watch many movie titles and story lines of old movies, I notice that many of them could not be made today because they would be regarded as politically incorrect in these days of being politically correct. I do not think we can have songs mentioning Bombay, Madras etc nor can we describe people as Junglee, blind, langdaa etc without invoking the wrath of some group of people or the other.
