With humble beginnings as a child ‘extra’, way back in 1951, the story of Jagdeep’s career is an interesting discourse. He made his debut appearance as an extra child actor in BR Chopra’s ‘Afsaana’ (1951). His comic propensities became visible in another small role as a child actor in Bimal Roy’s ‘Do Beegha Zameen’. Then on to more noticeable child roles – ‘Laila Majnu’ (1953), the younger Kaif, playing the child version of Shammi Kapoor; ‘Footpath’ (1953), a young street smart pickpocket; the role of Elaichi in Guru Dutt’s ‘Aar Paar’ (1954); the child clown in ‘Munna’ (1954); the young Kishore Kumar in ‘Dhobi Doctor’ (1954); and ‘Railway Platform’ (1955), ‘Mr & Mrs 55’ (1955), ‘Kismet Ke Khel’ (1956), ‘Dhaake Ki Malmal’ (1956), and more. Then comes 1957 and two important films – ‘Ab Dilli Door Nahin’ and ‘Hum Panchhi Ek Daal Ke’. Still the child actor, but gaining recognition with every role. The child actors’ team in ‘Hum Panchhi Ek Daal Ke’ was recognized and awarded by Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru.

As mentioned in my previous post I had to travel in the East for some official work as a part of some strategic planning at my work place.
And at that time i.e. around second/third week of May, there was a discussion at my work place, that I could also be deputed for some official work at Chennai in near future.

Hullo to all in Atuldom
So today (30 june 2016) is the last day of June. On reviewing the page of Anniversaries on our blog I find that we have a few music directors whose birthdays were in this month. We had Sajjad Hussain, Hemant Kumar, Madan Mohan & RD Burman. And today 30th June is the birth anniversary of Kalyanji Veerji Shah. I mean Kalyanji of the Kalyanji – Anandji Duo. He would have turned 88 today.

“Deewaar”(1975) was mainly known for its gripping story line and not for its songs. In fact I did not even remember what songs the movie had when I watched this movie.

June 27th (2016) is a date with RD Burman. It is his 77th birth anniversary. We know so many things about RD Burman by heart. We don’t require a wikipedia or any other site to tell us that he was son of SD Burman the music director of the golden era. We need no site to tell us that Ashok Kumar was the one who gave him the nickname Pancham. We know that he used to be addressed as Panchamda. We know that he had a knack of making music with a spoon and a glass like he did for the song from “Yaadon Ki Baraat”– Churaa liya hai tumne jo dil ko. He had worked with all the best song writers and singers of his time. He was comfortable giving music based on ragas or western beats.
