Few months back when I was travelling to my work place I got to listen to a program on a famous Radio FM channel. In This program, the anchor talks about the some special ‘characters’ from movies and the actors performing these characters, and the impact such characters have on the audience. That day this program talked about two special characters i.e. ‘Mogambo’ of ‘Mr. India-1987’ and ‘Jaykant Shikre’ of ‘Singham-2011’.

Today 4th January is the ninety eighth birth anniversary of Poet-Lyricist Gopaldas Saxena whom we know mononymously by the name of ‘Neeraj’.
He was born on 04th January’1925 and passed away on 19th July’2018.
On the occasion of his birth anniversary today as a tribute to him, I am presenting a song from the ‘1974’ movie ‘Aashiaana’.

I first met him on screen in 1971. The film was ‘Mere Apne’, a story of a destitute old lady fallen on to hard times, intersecting with gang wars between young street smarts. I had heard his name before. In 1968, when Sunil Dutt launched his younger brother Som Dutt via his home production ‘Man Ka Meet’, one also read in the news that another new face was being introduced – name Vinod Khanna.
