Today’s song is from the film Tulsi Vivah – 1971.

By coincidence, the film was also made by Tulsi Films, Bombay. It was directed by Candrakant (Gaur). The film’s music was by a “once upon a time” famous, but now at the end of his career, Music Director C. Ramchandra. Lyrics were by Pradeep. The cast included Dara Singh, Jayashree Gadkar, Randhawa, Azad, Abhi Bhattacharya, Anita guha, Rajan Haksar and many others. If only the cast names are shown to anyone, he will surely think that the film was a stunt/action film, what with names of pehelwans like Dara Singh, Randhawa and Azad ! I have seen this film. Dara Singh has done the role of Shiv ji in it. Whenever he talked, you would feel that he would lift and throw the person in front of him!!

#Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Debutant Movie)
—————————————

I do not remember that I was ever aware of this movie ‘Cobra’ or this title in my growing up years. I became aware of this movie only in 2015 when I got the copy of Geet Kosh Vol V (1971-1980). This movie has a song sung by singer Anwar and that is the reason for this post here. I came across the audio of this song a couple of years ago, and now the video of this song has also become available on internet. Even the movie is now available on online platform.

I guess that this must be an obscure movie of its time. Though it is now available online, but I have not yet watched this movie there. Interested readers can watch this movie on internet. I would request those knowledgeable readers who have already watched this movie to please share their feedback about this movie and its songs here on this blog. Geet Kosh Vol-V mentions this movie as a social movie.

Films with the title “Hum Ek Hai” were released in different years.

Suffice to say Hum Ek Hain, lekin same title anek hai.

Well, this post of mine had tried to sort out the confusion arising out of this same title released in different years and with different cast and composers. I had elaborated on the standalone patriotic song produced by Govt of India’s Films Division which also had the same title.

This film is one of the lesser known among the films directed by Basu Chatterjee who have directed many ‘middle of the road’ films. The Ajmer born and Mathura bred Basu Chatterjee (10/01/1927 – 04/06/2020) migrated to Mumbai in 1948 and worked as a cartoonist in ‘Current’ and ‘Blitz’ for about 18 years before venturing into Hindi films as Assistant Director under Basu Bhattacharya for ‘Teesri Kasam’ (1966) and under Govind Saraiya for ‘Saraswatichandra (1968). ‘Saara Aakaash’ (1969) was his first independently directed film which got him his first Filmfare Award for the Best Screenplay. This is a role reversal to “Abhi na jaao chhod ke, ke dil abhi bhara Nahin”. Here Hema Malini is trying to stop Dharmendra from going to his job. She is calling him ‘Raja” and asking him not to leave her alone, take leave from work, or better to leave the job if he is not getting holiday. The filmy or flimsy situation, Lata Mangeshkar’s playback, Hema Malini looking resplendent in a red jacket/suit, begging. Dharmendra on his part is just trying to get away on whatever transport he can find and enjoying all the attention. All that bhav is good for the hero anyway. Songs like “haay haay yeh majboori”, “Na ja mere hamdam”, “bataa doon kya laana” and others convey the similar emotion in different ways.
