Madan Mohan not only got the best out of Lata, he did that with other singers as well. In fact, he had the knack of getting the best out of every singer he worked with, because he had the ability to guage the range of the singer’s voice and he would tailor his music accordingly. Thus we have singers as varied as Lata, Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh,Talat Mahmood, Asha Bhonsle, Bhupinder etc singing some of their most memorable songs under Madan Mohan.

India of 1970 was a much more simple,unsophisticated, and underdeveloped in most respects. So much so that movie makers who decided to make different off beat movies were left in the lurch. Raj Kapoor was one such movie maker who paid heavily for overestimating the calibre of his audience. His ambitious labour of love “Mera Naam Joker” fell flat at the box office.

“Chetna” was one of those offbeat movies which were far too ahead of its time to appeal to the audiences who were still unwilling to patronise such movies. As a result, these movies fell flat at the box office. Other movies of the same genre were “Dastak” and “Do Raaha”.
