“Tyaag” (1977) was a Films and Films International production. It was produced by N S Kabir and directed by Deen Dayal Sharma. The movie had Rajesh Khanna, Sharmila Tagore, Prem Chopra, Bindu, Sulochana Latkar, Harnam, Mukri, Master Tito,Mukri,Asit Sen, Murad,Amrit Patel,Tuntun,Chandrima Bhaduri, Kamal Kapoor, Mohan Jerry, Mahendra Jhaveri, Nayim,Lalita Kumari, Billimoria, Dheeraj Kumar Satyajeet, Gurnam Singh, Raza Murad, Sona, Satyen Kappu etc in it.

Recently four physics students of University of Leicester, UK carried out a study in British Parliament and found out that the hot air produced by the 650 parliamentarians in the house of commons generated 10.34 kW of energy, which if properly harnessed can light up as many as 1000 energy efficient bulbs or 200 conventional bulbs. This report was published under the title “Hot Air in the house of Commons”.

pujaari husn ka hoon main
na deewaana jawaani ka

I heard these lines in the inimitable voice of Mohammed Rafi yesterday on Radio Rafi. I was looking for details regarding this song in the Database at mohdrafi.com, so not paying much attention to the radio playing. As the words of the poem registered, it caught my attention. I managed to catch the last line in the audio clip “pujaari husn ka hoon main”.

Everyone is aware that a movie called “Milan” was released in 1967. What is less known is that the same year also saw a movie called “Milan Ki Raat” as well. Like “Milan” (1967), this movie too had the same lyricist and the same music director. 🙂

Remembering Anand Bakshi on the anniversary of his passing away.

Anand ji, a most prolific songwriter that this industry has seen. His claim to fame is having penned more than 3,500 songs for nearly 640 films. A writing career that lasted for more than four decades, and his creations continued to appear in films as late as last year (2012), ten years after his passing away from this world. In his lifetime, he was nominated for no less than 40 times for the Filmfare awards, which sounds like almost one nomination every year of his active career from 1957 to 2002. That in itself may be a record that no one may be close to in the industry. He won this award four times.
