The makers of “Qawwali Ki Raat” (1964) had a tough task ahead of them. They were required to make a movie along the lines of “Barsaat Ki Raat” (1960).

Children’s Day is variously celebrated in different parts of the world, on different days. In India, it is celebrated on this day (14th November) every year. (This day also is the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.) There are other dates on which International Children’s Day (1st June) and Universal Children’s Day (20th November) are celebrated. 20th November is the day on which the Declaration of the Rights of the Child was adopted by UN General Assembly in 1959.

There have been two movies called “Sabse Bada Rupaiyya”. I was personally familiar with the Mehmood movie that was released in 1976. But the earlier movie with the same title was released in 1955.

I came across a veritable gem today, that I had once heard many many years ago; I had no info about this song, just remembered the tune and some words, that would sometimes just come up in my mind by themselves and I would hum them, always longing to hear this song again. And today, while searching for something else, I accidentally bumped into this old long lost friend of mine.

This song is not your regular boy meeting the girl and running around the trees song. That stage is over, at least as far as Rajendranath and Madhavi are concerned. Yes, they have got married and this song takes place on the occasion of their wedding reception.

I have heard this song many a times and I loved it. Madan Mohan created such a nice qawwali which was written by Kaifi Azmi, and how it is picturised ? Not as a qawwali, but as a party song.
