Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 92

We are getting closer to the triple figure mark of the rare or lesser heard songs of Asha Bhosle.

“Mere Hotho Ki Lali Jane Kisne Churali” is sung by Asha Bhosle. It is written by Indeevar and composed by Usha Khanna. The song is a cabaret/club song from “Ilzam” (1970).

The Hindi film Ilzam was released in 1970 and belongs to the action–crime drama genre. It was filmed in black and white.

The film was directed by Kamran (credited simply as Kamran) and produced by Lalitkumar C. Doshi under the banner of L.K. Productions. The story was written by Devraj Bahri, while the screenplay was handled by Kamran himself. Dialogues were written by Farooq Kaiser. Music for the film was composed by Usha Khanna, with song lyrics by Asad Bhopali and Indeevar. Editing was done by S. T. Koorani, and art direction was by J. S. Pophaly.

The principal cast was led by Dara Singh, who played a dual role as Raju and Kishan. Sanjana appeared as the female lead Rita, while Azra played Radha. Ulhas was seen as Jwalaprasad, and Prem Nath played Ajit. Other important roles were performed by Ramayan Tiwari, Jagdish Raj, Mumtaz Begum, Bela Bose, Hamida, Geeta Kaushal, Zeb Sultana, Habib, Brahmachari, Khurshid Khan, and T. Jayshree in supporting parts.

Ilzam (1970) is a crime-drama built around mistaken identity, injustice, and revenge.

The story revolves around two look-alike men, Raju and Kishan, whose lives move in completely different directions. Raju is a simple, strong-willed man with a straightforward sense of right and wrong, while Kishan is connected to a criminal environment shaped by greed and power. Circumstances beyond Raju’s control lead to him being falsely implicated in serious crimes. Because of his resemblance to Kishan, the blame for criminal acts is placed on the wrong man, and Raju becomes the victim of an unjust accusation—an ilzam (charge) that turns his life upside down.

As Raju struggles to clear his name, he faces betrayal, social humiliation, and violent opposition from those who benefit from keeping the truth hidden. Rita, his love interest, stands by him and believes in his innocence, while other characters either exploit the confusion or remain silent out of fear. The criminal forces behind the conspiracy use their influence to manipulate witnesses and the law, making it nearly impossible for Raju to prove the truth.

The narrative builds toward confrontation as Raju decides to fight back, not only to reclaim his honour but also to expose the corrupt individuals responsible for framing him. Through action, sacrifice, and dramatic revelations, the truth about the two identical men finally comes to light. The real culprits are unmasked, justice is restored, and Raju’s innocence is proven, bringing the film to a moral conclusion that condemns abuse of power and celebrates perseverance against injustice.

The song is performed and lip synced by Jayshree T.

Today (5 July 2022) is the 5100th day for the blog.

Blog Day :

Regulars may have noticed lack of activity in the blog on my part for the last ten odd days. From June 25 till June 28, 7 posts were published and all these articles were posted by Sudhir jee. I had specifically requested him on 24 June 2022 that “it will be difficult for me to find time for publishing new posts from 24 june till 27 June. So I request you to uphold the blog flag for these four days.”

Sudhir jee had promised to do the needful, viz ensuring that we had at least one post on each of these days. He ended up publishing four posts on 27 June 2022, prompted by an over-enthusiastic Avinash Scrapwala, who sent many RD Burman write ups on that day for publication. 🙂
