Pray, what may be the most dear thing in this life?
Something that will never grow old, or stale. Something that will never be lost in life. Something that will only grow fonder with the passage of time. What is that thing?

Rafi Sb.
So much written about him. So much said. The words have ended. But the emotions continue to flow. So much more remains unsaid. So much more still waits. But the articulation struggles to create new epithets, define new qualifiers that may go beyond, and say a little more about this Divine Voice, about this persona so aptly described as God’s Own.
And yet, some more, little more. As it is, there are still many more songs in his voice that have to be brought on board here on our blog. I bring today a short ghazal of three couplets, that is indeed an abbreviated version. The poet who wrote these lines is Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal emperor. As a character in history – the last Emperor of the glorious Mughal dynasty, he appears in some films. One of them is ‘Mirza Ghalib’ (1954).

Entertaining Sales Pitch Songs – 11
—————————————————–
This post is likely the one which has been the most scrambled for. Leap day it is. So much history and folklore around this date, no doubt. But notwithstanding that, it struck us quite late in the day, as to how such a rare occasion be not celebrated, and not represented on our blog. We are all adept at combining celebrations and conjuring up milestones and reasons to post a celebratory article. So how come this leap day phenomena be left by the side. So we got going to get something in place, but it was quite late that we got started. Here is a brief about the gensis.

Sometimes, things can’t get more rare than this. As we look for rare combination of artists, and especially singers, we come across combinations where two artists have worked together in a song, once or maybe twice in the entire history of Indian cinema. This song today, is one such song. It is a duet, rather I should correct myself, it is a trio of singers. There are two female voices, and one male voice. The male voice is not identified, even in the Geet Kosh listings. The female voices are Shamshad Begum and Hamida Bano. And the year is 1948.

Mohammed Rafi – ‘अ’ से ‘ह’ तक (From ‘अ’ to ‘ह’) – 22

‘त’
“तुम्हीं से हुई है शुरू और तुम्हीं पे सनम खत्म होगी कहानी हमारी”
What a gem of a delight this song is, from the 1969 film ‘Mera Dost’. As we continue to delve and search, we continue to come across as yet un-posted songs that are simply out of this world. Such wonders will not cease, I am sure for quite some time yet.

Past few days have been very slow on the blog. Concerns have been expressed in the mails being exchanged not only between the regular team members, but also enquiries are coming from other readers and friends. Some expressions include statements saying that this blog has become such an integral part of their individual routine of the day. And on days when we have no posts – dot balls, or even maiden overs, as Atul ji likes to refer to such days, folks have expressed that something seems to be lacking in the day. And personally, I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment.
